P. Gage Jull

Executive Chairman

Mr. Jull is a Co-founder and Chairman of Bordeaux Capital Inc., a Toronto-based mergers & acquisitions advisory firm focused on emerging companies in the natural resources sector. Prior to Bordeaux Capital, Mr. Jull was a Managing Director, Corporate Finance at Mackie Research Capital Corp., an investment banking and securities brokerage services firm from August 2004 to November 2015.

Throughout his career, Mr. Jull has acted as lead underwriter on numerous cross border equity and debt offerings involving energy assets around the world, with capital sourced in Canada, the U.S. and the U.K. He has also worked at international firms including Merrill Lynch and Prudential Bache, as well as Canadian domestic firms including Burns Fry and Taurus Capital. He has completed over 200 financings and M&A transactions in the course of his career. Mr. Jull holds a B.Sc. degree from the University of Toronto, an MBA from the University of Western Ontario, and holds both P.Eng. and CFA designations.

Grant M. Carnie

Senior Independent Director 

Over 35 years of oil and gas experience across a broad spectrum of domestic and international projects. Most recently served as Director of SFC Energy Partners, a private equity firm and represented the company at the board level for six private portfolio companies. Prior to joining SFC, served as the VP Corporate Development for an independent Denver based oil and gas company focusing on production growth in the Rocky Mountain region. At MarkWest Hydrocarbons, he was the Vice President Business Development and was the driving force in developing the strategy for several Canadian acquisitions and continued development operations. Prior to joining MarkWest, was the Manager of Geology for Questa Engineering. Has also worked for Occidental International as a Production Geologist, Canadian Occidental Petroleum as an Exploration Geologist and Suncor Inc. as a Development Geologist. Mr. Carnie has 20 years of experience throughout the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin and has worked extensively in Russia, South America and the domestic Rocky Mountain region. Mr. Carnie holds a bachelor degree in geology from the University of Alberta.

Marshall Abbott

Director & Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Abbott is a highly accomplished oil & gas executive, having successfully built and sold several companies throughout his 37-year career in the industry.

Most recently, Mr. Abbott was the CEO & Chairman of Rampart Oil Inc., a company he co-founded and built to 3,500 bbls/d of production. Previously, Mr. Abbott was the CEO & Chairman of Bernum Petroleum Inc., a company he co-founded and built to 3,000 bbls/d of production until its sale to Caltex Resources Ltd. Mr. Abbott has also been the Co-Founder, CEO & Chairman of numerous other oil & gas companies in Canada and internationally, including Sabretooth Energy Inc. (sold to Cequence Energy Ltd.), Cougar Hydrocarbons Ltd. (sold to Starpoint Energy), and Equatorial Energy Ltd. (sold to Resolute Energy Corp.).

Mr. Abbott has also held senior management roles with Stampeder Exploration Ltd., Morrison Petroleums Ltd., and Texaco Canada Resources Ltd. He is a past director of Voyager Energy Inc. and Iron Bridge Resources Inc, both of which were sold following significant growth through successful exploration. Mr. Abbott holds a B.Sc. degree (Honours Geology) from the University of Alberta.

Anthony Zaidi

Director

Mr. Zaidi is a lawyer and businessman with significant experience in corporate finance and in the mining and energy sector in Colombia. Prior to joining Canacol in his current role of VP Business Development & General Counsel, Mr. Zaidi was the President and General Counsel of Carrao Energy Ltd. Previously, Mr. Zaidi had been an officer or director of several private and public companies, including Integral Oil Services, Pacific Rubiales Energy, Petro Magdalena Energy, Medora Resources and others, as well as a securities lawyer at Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP. Mr. Zaidi holds a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Toronto as well as a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) degree from McGill University.

Ravi Sharma

Director

Ravi Sharma is a Professional Engineer with more than 30 years of experience in the Americas, Middle East, Russia, Australasia and Africa. He is currently Chief Operating Officer of Canacol, and previously held the position of Global Petroleum Engineering Manager for BHP Billiton Petroleum. Mr. Sharma also held the position of Worldwide Chief Reservoir Engineer for Occidental Oil and Gas.

Ian Langley

Director

Mr. Langley brings to the Board more than 35 years of experience as both an executive and director in various businesses in the UK and abroad. Mr. Langley attended the PACE Program at Manchester Business School and completed the Certificate and Diploma in Industrial Management courses at Wolverhampton University. Prior to this he completed a four-year engineering apprenticeship with British Rail Engineering Limited (“BREL”). From there Mr. Langley founded, ran and directed numerous private equity backed companies including Airswift, where Mr. Langley currently sits as the Chairman of the Board, and EPI Group where Mr. Langley sits as a non-Executive Chairman. Currently, Mr. Langley also sits as the nonExecutive Director of the Berry Group and Boston Energy Ltd.

Mr. Langley has received industry recognition in these roles and won awards for his work including the BVCA Management Team of the Year, Sunday Times Fast Track, Top Track and Buyout. Track, EY EofY nominations and others.
